Business records of Levi Z. Leiter, a Chicago merchant and real estate investor, plus a larger collection of records of his estate managed by his son Joseph. Correspondence, account books, etc. relative to Chicago retail and office buildings, including the Isabella, Japanese, Lakeside, Leiter Building and Leiter Building II, the Erlanger Theater, and the Grand Pacific Hotel; coal mines and railroading interests in the company town of Zeigler (Ill.); ranches in Wyoming; western mines; and other real estate and securities. Includes material on lawsuits against Joseph Leiter alleging mismanagement of the estate. Persons represented in the collection include Levi Leiter's children: Mrs. Colin Campbell (Nancy Leiter); Lady Marguerite Hyde, Countess of Suffolk and Berkshire (Daisy Leiter); Joseph Leiter; and the estate of Lady Curzon (Mary Victoria Leiter).
